How To Register PDF Print E-mail

The IEDR recommends that you make your application through a registered IE Registrar. It is generally cheaper to register your .ie through a Registrar than directly through the IEDR. They will provide you with the necessary nameserver information needed for application. However if you wish to make the application directly through ourselves we will be happy to oblige you.

There are 4 steps to applying to register a .ie Domain Name:

  1. Make sure your chosen Domain Name is not currently registered by checking our WHOIS search facilities.
  2. Read the Quick Guide to Registration Policy to ensure that you can provide information showing your claim to the proposed Domain Name. If you are unsure of what information you may have to provide in support of your application, click here to take a look at our quick questionnaire.
  3. Arrange Domain Name Hosting through an ISP or Hosting Company;
  4. Submit the on-line Application to register a .ie Domain Name.
  5. To view our FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions, click here.

A member of our Registration Services team will be in touch within 2 working days either indicating acceptance or detailing any problems with the application. NB -Domain Name registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note: The IEDR does not condone or support the secondary sale of .ie domains. If it comes to our attention that any .ie domain is for sale, we withhold the right to delete that domain, with five days notice.
